Now Samuel went to Bethlehem to see Jesse's sons

To find a new king for the people, the anointed one

But the youngest son was tending to his sheep on the land
Самый младший сын овец пас, и Господь так решил,
And the Lord declared on David he would lay his hand
Что Давид царем пребудет, и длань возложил
And the Lord said David's house would rule for ever more
И Господь изрёк, Давидов будет царствовать дом,
But the people were divided and forsook the law
Только люди разделились, сей презрев закон,
And the king of Babylon captured the land by the sword
И правитель Вавилона взял ту землю мечом,
And he carried off the treasures of the house of the Lord

Now Daniel entered service in the court of the King

And he prophesized the judgments he would reap for his sin

And the king dreamed of an idol made of iron and clay
Был царю сон с идолищем из руды и земли,
Destroyed completely by a mountain that would last for an age
Который горы под собой на вечный век погребли
And he interpreted the writing on the wall at the feast
Во время пира письмена он на стене толковал,
And they threw him to the lions but he ruled over the beasts
Тогда львам его отдали, но он и львов обуздал,
In his vision he saw coming down with clouds from the sky
И в виденьях наблюдал он, как с небес в облаках
One like a son of man whose kingdom will never die

And the beast with seven heads came and devoured the land
Семиглавый зверь явился, пожирающий всё,
But the rod of Jesse grew and was the Passover lamb
Но Ессея отпрыск вырос и ягненка принёс,
And he taught them to show mercy to those on Judah's shore
Милосердию учил на иудейской земле,
Doing good unto your neighbour is the whole of the law
Суть закона, чтоб не делал зла соседу сосед
And they nailed Him to a tree and Satan thought he had won
Он распят был на доске, и ликовал Сатана,
But He took all of our sins and then the work was done
Но грехи он наши взял, он сделал всё для нас,
And He is coming back again to judge the living and dead
Он будет мёртвых и живых теперь судить, будет всех,
For as in Adam all men die, in Christ have new life instead
Ведь человек в Адаме мёртв, и снова жив во Христе
